Discover your next step
We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our established team at Martin and Carr Vets in Pershore. This position can be tailored to your preferences—whether you’re interested in a surgical caseload or a consult-only role, we can accommodate your needs. If surgery is your passion, we can provide a full day of surgeries each week, allowing you to thoroughly work up your cases. For those who prefer consultations, a consult-only position is also available.
At our practice, professional and personal development is our priority. We are committed to providing the support you need to thrive, fostering an environment where knowledge sharing, confidence building, and clinical freedom matter to us. Here, there are no limits to your career potential.
Flexible working that offers real flex
At our practice, our people are at the heart of everything we do, which is why we prioritize work-life balance as essential for supporting you to be your best self. Whether you’re looking for reduced working hours for personal pursuits, need to handle school drop-offs and pick-ups, or prefer a more flexible rota pattern, we’re here to accommodate your needs—you tell us what works for you.
Typically, full-time hours involve working four days a week from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM. After hours, we switch phone coverage to Vets Now, meaning the duty vet only needs to provide remote phone support for one hour, while a Registered Veterinary Nurse will be on-site until 7 PM. Weekend responsibilities involve a 1 in 4 Saturday rotation, where you'll conduct consultations from 9 AM to 1 PM before Vets Now take over.
A team dedicated to continuous professional development
Our passionate team comprises nine experienced Veterinary Surgeons and a second-year graduate, all supported by an exceptional group of Registered Veterinary Nurses, Trainee Nurses, and dedicated support staff. Our veterinary team includes an RCVS-recognised Advanced Practitioner in general small animal surgery, as well as certificate holders in small animal medicine and endoscopy. Additionally, we have a veterinarian who specialises in acupuncture and has a strong interest in animal behaviour, along with another vet who holds a PhD in nematodes. One of our veterinarians is also pursuing a certificate in diagnostic imaging. Our Head Nurse possesses a CertVN in Emergency and Critical Care, along with additional certifications in analgesia and anaesthesia. No matter your career stage, our committed and resourceful team is here to provide the support and development you need to thrive.
But don’t just take our word for it—here’s what our team has to say:
“I’ve always had a keen interest in surgery so after qualifying as an RVN in 2019, I left Martin and Carr to work as a surgical nurse in a large referral clinic. I soon realised that what I’d left behind was a progressive practice that were keen to teach and encourage. I returned in 2020 where I went on to achieve a Certificate of Veterinary Nursing in Emergency & Critical Care (CertVNECC) and a certificate in analgesia and anaesthesia. The staff at Martin and Carr are supportive and caring” – Amy Deakin Head Nurse
“The ethos of the surgery combines traditional care and modern treatments, we are a friendly team who endorse family values within our practice. Our surgical and medical knowledge is far superior to most general practice and we are keen to teach the new generation of vet students. If you want to learn and progress, this is the practice for you!” – Amy Baldwin Clinical Director
