Avenue Veterinary Hospital is seeking a friendly, organised, and approachable Receptionist to join our team in Dundalk. This is a key front-of-house position within a busy, progressive small animal practice where teamwork and clinical excellence are at the core of everything we do.
As the first point of contact for our clients, you will play an essential role in creating a warm, professional, and supportive environment. This position is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people, takes pride in delivering a high standard of service, and values being part of a trusted local practice.
This is a full-time, permanent role offering a structured and predictable working pattern. You will typically work 35–40 hours over five days, Monday to Friday, with shifts rotating between 9:00am–5:00pm and 10:30am–6:30pm.
Occasional Saturday cover may be required to support the weekend rota, with time off in lieu provided. There are no Sundays, bank holidays, or out-of-hours commitments, allowing you to maintain a healthy work-life balance. On-site parking is available.
Working at the heart of a busy small animal practice, your role will combine client-facing interaction with essential administrative support. You will warmly welcome clients and their pets, manage appointments efficiently, and handle queries both in person and over the phone.
In addition, you will process payments, maintain an organised and professional reception area, and support the wider team with general administrative tasks. As you develop in the role, you will also build knowledge of our services and products, enabling you to confidently assist and guide clients.
Previous experience in a veterinary or reception setting is beneficial, but not essential. Full training will be provided for someone with the right attitude, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn.
We are looking for someone with a personable and professional approach who can build strong relationships with our loyal client base. You will be comfortable managing a busy front desk, handling multiple tasks, and remaining calm and organised under pressure.
Ideally, you will have prior experience in a customer-facing or reception role, along with good IT skills and confidence handling payments. Most importantly, you will bring initiative, a positive team-focused mindset, and a genuine interest in animal welfare.
