About the role
We are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our two-branch, Small Animal First Opinion Practice in Liverpool. You will be involved in all things nursing such as Theatre, Inpatient Care, Lab Work, Nursing Consultations and much much more! No two days are the same with a variety of cases, Surgical and Medicine. We are open to candidates who are interested in working at either of our branches, you will continue to work at this chosen branch as our nursing team does not move between the branches.
Our rota provides an excellent work/life balance by working 4 days, you always get a day off in the week. Hours are split across the 4 days, working three long and one short day with 1 in 3 Saturdays and time back in lieu. Your working days include 1 hour unpaid lunch break. Our out of hours are covered by Vetsnow in Huyton, meaning there is no on call duties or bank holiday work. We from time to time, keep stable patients in and work an inpatient rota, this requires you to be on rota no more than once per week to attend the branch at midnight for a check on your patient. These are very far and few between and are often stable cats requiring extended IVFT.
About the practice
Between our two branches in Wavertree and Fazakerley we have 5 RVNs with varying experience from New Graduate to 21 years! We also have 2 very hard working SVN's, 2 superb VCA's and 1 amazing dedicated receptionist who is based at our Wavertree Branch. We have 8 fantastic vets with experience ranging from New Graduate to 34 years in Basic orthopaedics, Soft Tissue, Emergency Inpatient Care and Acupuncture to name a few. We often have Visiting Specialists who perform Cardiac Work Ups, Ultrasonography Investigations and Soft Tissue Surgeries. We are aiming to bring some of these skills in practice by investing in new equipment and staff training such as Endoscopy and Capnography. We are passionate about preventative health and our RVN's play a vital role in promoting this and educating our clients to provide the best care for their pets in the form of nursing consultations to include 2nd Vaccines, Puppy and Kitten Development Clinics, Weight Clinics, Geriatric Clinics and much more!
We have numerous loyal clients who still remember the days of John and Rita Adams! We have General Practice accreditation with RCVS Practice Standards and wish to become ISFM Cat Friendly accredited in the near future, with one of our RVN's currently undertaking the ISFM Diploma in Feline Nursing! We as a group have a passion for making our patients’ visits as positive and free from stress as much as possible. We have 3 consulting rooms including a dedicated Nurses Room along with Digital X rays, Multiparameter, ECG, Ultrasound, Idexx Lab Machines and Tonometry.
During the pandemic it has been difficult to get together and spend time with each other outside of work, however, we recently did a Virtual Escape Room activity which was a lot of fun! We are planning some fundraising in the summer to raise some money for Vetlife as we feel it is important to help support and promote the resources and organisations who work hard to help and support the wellbeing of the Veterinary Industry.
We are looking for a friendly and competent Registered Veterinary Nurse who wants to work in a busy First Opinion Practice with a passion for Patient Care and Client Education. We believe effective Client Education leads to successful Preventative Health and Awareness around Illness and Disease. We are looking for someone who has had experience within Small Animal Practice throughout their nursing career, whether that be during their training or once qualified, who can jump in and use their Nursing Skills that they have worked so hard for.
