The Role

Every advert out there seems to be an ‘exciting’ opportunity of one sort or another doesn’t it? But let’s be honest, it’s not been a great year, so you could probably do without excitement and would be really happy with a practice that simply appreciates you for the immense effort you put into your work? Due to the expansion in the clinics and increased workload we are looking for RCVS nurses or Animal Nursing Assistants
Somewhere that you can have the space and time to let your passion for the industry flourish?

  • Our rota will allow you plenty of time to keep up with the lockdown hobbies you’ve started
  • 4 days per week
  • Out of hours on a shared rota until 10pm (vets now cover 10pm-8am midweek)
  • 1 in 4 Saturdays (9am-5pm) and Sunday (9am-12noon) -this rota will improve as the team expands
  • We are open to full and part time applications
  • Role includes – admitting and preparing animals for surgery including monitoring patient status, anaesthesia, accurate record keeping, pre and post-surgery observations, assist vets with procedures and consultations, running nurse consultations, discharging animals, ordering supplies, packaging samples and dealing with laboratory enquiries and help coach and mentor our students
  • Accommodation available if required

About Us

Our small animal only clinics are situated in two busy towns – Ballymena and Antrim. We are a short and pleasant drive from the buzz of Belfast city centre and an equally lovely drive to the North coast.
The practice itself has all the usual toys including digital ultrasound, x-ray, in-house lab and we would happily add more specialist things to the shopping list if you have a particular skillset or interest you want to develop as we have a focus on clinical excellence and client care. We run busy clinics with an experienced and friendly team of 8 Veterinary surgeons, 9 nurses and 7 support staff alongside our visiting specialist Ophthalmologist Isabel.

Our Ballymena building itself had a recent building make-over – definitely a bit more we can do here, but it’s nice to have a project… Our Antrim clinic is commencing an overdue refurbishment this year that will make it double in size with an additional consultation room and complete new x-ray suite.

You probably have ‘I work well individually and as part of a team’ on your CV (because everyone does) - but it’s mainly the team bit we are interested in. We are lucky to have great teams who all support each other. We are an approved nurse training practice. All levels of experience are welcome to apply as full support will be given.

Applicant Requirements

We think that veterinary practice should be more flexible but what we won’t budge on is the right attitude to be part of our team! If you have the right attitude, then it really doesn’t matter to us how long you have been qualified, if you want part time / full time, want to settle down in a beautiful part of the world or know that you’ll only be able to stay for a year.

Get in touch to tell us what an amazing day at work looks like for you, and we can take things from there… or, if it’s not for you at the moment, but you know someone else who it may be a good match for – just pass on these details. Thank you!
