The Role

Gordon Vets, Musselburgh is looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team. The position is full time although part time can be considered  working within our busy small animal practice. The role will involve varied duties including hospital work, theatre work, nurse consults and some (minimal) reception work. This will be rotated equally between the nurse team. We do regular orthopaedics and endoscopy work.


Up to £28,000 negotiable D.O.E.

Welcome bonus of up to £1,000


Working 40 hours per week.

Working across 4 days. 

You will be required to participate in the out of hours rota, which incudes one evening (until 11pm) once every 2 weeks, - If called out with OOH this is paid at time and half 

1 in 8 weekends (Saturdays until 9am-12:30pm in the clinic) then on call until 11pm and Sunday morning to check everything when needed – Then get the following Friday off for a long weekend.

1 in 8 Sundays -  which is 5 hours on reception but then rewarded with the following Monday off for another long weekend. So will have 1 in 4 long weekends


About Us

We are a very busy small animal practice with a long-standing loyal client base. We have 3 surgeries located in East and Mid Lothian. We are ideally situated with access to amazing beaches and spectacular coastline, the rambling hills of Midlothian and the close to the stunning city of Edinburgh.

We are a 14 Veterinary Surgeon practice, with 9 Registered Veterinary Nurses and excellent support staff. We have an orthopaedic certificate holder and two GP certificate holders, and we are also a nurse training practice. We are well equipped with digital X-ray, ultrasound, endoscope, full laparoscopic surgical equipment, dental/dental X-ray. We are a friendly and supportive practice where you will be made to feel like an integral part of the team. We strive to provide an excellent level of service to our established client base. We are a training practice and pride ourselves in our high standards of nurse training.

Applicant requirements

Must be RCVS registered and qualified, experience preferred but full support can be given for the right candidate, fully supported further certification and CPD allowance available.
