Can you tell us about yourself and how you came to work at the practice?

I graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine, Bucharest, Romania in 2019 and I have been working as a small animal vet in UK since. I recently joined the North Weald Vets team. I came to work at this practice because I was looking for a career opportunity where I could do more surgeries.

What motivates you to work in the veterinary industry?

The ability to change and save lives and the fast pace of this job. There’s always something new to learn and new skills to gain.

Can you tell us more about the practice and the team, and what it’s like to work there?

The practice began as a family-run business and it still has that feel. It is well-equipped, and we are very excited to have new equipment coming soon, including dental x-rays. The team is very welcoming, we have a full team of nurses, and everyone is very experienced too. As a vet, I get all the support I need, both in surgery but also with more complicated clinical cases.

We see a large variety of cases – currently not including exotics, but if anyone joined the team with that knowledge, they’d be a welcome addition.

What are your favourite things about working at the practice?

The team have made me feel very welcomed and everyone works so well together, everyone here has very similar mind set.

I also enjoy the variation of my role, with clinical and surgical cases. I have also been given the opportunity to undertake CPD courses to suit my career development, which is great.

What do you feel the practice has to offer that someone thinking of joining might not know about?

The fact that vets here have the clinical freedom to treat our patients as we feel is best. This isn’t always the expectation that people have because we’re part of a larger network, but I’m supported to treat patients with the treatment plans I have created.

The flexibility of days off and holiday requests is good too, these are always approved quickly and fairly which is important I think.

We also have the common on our doorstep which is a very nice area to relax in on your lunch break!

What hobbies and interests do you have?

I love travelling and exploring new places and cultures. I love outdoor sports like hiking and skiing. I am always up in the mountains when I go back to Romania.

What are you proudest of in your veterinary career so far?

I am proud of my progression with surgery especially since I have been at North Weald Vets and how my confidence as a vet has grown.
