The family were heading home when another driver sped through a stop sign, crashing into their car. The impact pushed their vehicle off the road, through a hedge, and down a 10-foot drop into a neighbouring field. Inside the car were two young children, and to add to the already terrifying situation, the family were towing a trailer with their daughter’s beloved pony, Charlie.
After ensuring her family was safe, Mrs Robinson quickly discovered that Charlie was missing. It took some time, but the pony was eventually found trapped in a ditch, entangled in a hedge on the other side.
That’s when Pool House Vet, Cristina Bertoni, and Yard Team Member, Emily Whitehurst, stepped in. Emily, who happened to be passing by, immediately stopped to offer support and much-needed reassurance. She contacted the practice and Cristina headed to the scene. When Cristina arrived she liaised with the four fire crews and the animal rescue team to help get Charlie safely out of the hedge.
Thanks to Cristina’s expertise and reassuring calmness, Charlie was rescued with only superficial injuries. And, miraculously, the Robinson family also escaped the accident with only bumps and bruises.
The family expressed their immense gratitude, stating that the actions of Cristina and Emily not only helped save their beloved pony but also made the aftermath of this traumatic event a bit easier to bear.
The team’s dedication and quick thinking truly made a difference, turning a potentially catastrophic situation into a story of heroism and hope.
Mrs Robinson said,
“My entire family feel incredibly lucky to have walked away from such a large and potentially catastrophic accident. The team has had a huge role to play in making these next steps of recovery for us all, that bit easier.”
