DoddieVet sees record participation in 2026

February 10, 2026

DoddieVet returned this January, once again challenging veterinary practices across the UK to log as many miles as possible in support of Motor Neurone Disease research.

This special veterinary league is organised by Beth Sweeney, Veterinary Surgeon at Kilbarchan Vets, with an aim of encouraging the whole veterinary community to come together and raise as much money as possible for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. By taking part, teams pledge to cover as many miles as possible by running, cycling, swimming or any other activity they choose. As part of the challenge, Beth creates some friendly competition via weekly competitions with prizes on offer for top-performing teams.

This year’s league saw fantastic engagement across IVC Evidensia, with 33 of our practices taking part. We are also especially proud that the top three final positions were secured by our very own practice teams:

  1. Clare Vet Group, 23379 miles

  1. Shore Vets, 6182 miles

  1. Millburn Vets, 5091 miles

Clare Vet’s outstanding mileage – almost a full lap of the earth’s circumference - was achieved through consistent, whole team engagement. From lunchtime runs and morning dog walks, to farm visits and bike relay, the four practices championed their community spirit, helping make a difference to those affected by MND. In addition to their winning achievement, Clare Vet Group also raised £3,340 for the cause.

Overall, this year’s DoddieVet saw a record number of sign-ups, with 56 veterinary teams across the UK and 469 individuals taking part. Together, participants raised an incredible £16,602, including £9,060 from signups alone!

Participants embraced a range of creative and fun-filled activities that encouraged community participation and competition.

The month kicked off with the ‘New Year’s Dook’, in which colleagues from Crown Vets, Fenaghy Vets, and Bridge Vets took a cold plunge into icy water to mark the first day of the year. ‘Buddy Up’ also encouraged participants to exercise in groups, while ‘DoggieAid’ judged the best photo of a pet wearing a DoddieAid snood.

Weekly prizes proved bigger than ever, with winners receiving a variety of items, from fashionable pet apparel and speakers to headphones and even a highly sought after tractive tracker.

Winners were also recognised by well-known supporters of the cause, including Jasmin Paris MBE, a fell runner and vet, and Scott Hastings, a former national rugby player.

A huge congratulations to everyone who took part in DoddieVet and DoddieAid across our UK network!
