Plymouth Veterinary Group unveils new purpose-built hospital

October 10, 2025

Plymouth Veterinary Hospital, part of Plymouth Veterinary Group has opened its doors, putting advanced patient care, modern facilities and improved colleague spaces at the heart of its design.

Over the past year, IVC Evidensia has invested more than ever before in its UK practices, as part of its strong commitment to creating modern spaces that help deliver the best for patients. One of the projects IVC Evidensia is proud to announce is the relocation of Plymouth Vets to a brand-new purpose-built veterinary hospital.

Plymouth Veterinary Hospital's new site

Located just one mile from the Devon Expressway from the previous practice, Plymouth Veterinary Hospital combines state-of-the-art facilities with advanced equipment and a thoughtful design, to help the team provide even better healthcare services for animals in the region.

Advanced diagnostic imaging technology

With their first dedicated veterinary CT machine, Plymouth Veterinary Hospital can now carry out advanced cross-sectional imaging to support complex diagnostic and surgical cases. This means more patients can receive tailored treatment when needed.

Modern patient suites

New dedicated spaces include dental and imaging suites, allowing for advanced diagnostics and routine procedures to run simultaneously.

Wellbeing in the workplace

Behind the scenes, the layout has been designed to prioritise collaboration and colleague wellbeing. Multiple large procedure rooms connect to a central prep area, helping streamline workflows and support efficient case management. Modern rest areas and shared office spaces provide the team with somewhere to recharge and share knowledge, recognising that wellbeing in the workplace is just as vital as patient care.

Dedicated exotic pet spaces

In addition to its refurbished facilities, Plymouth Veterinary Hospital now accepts referrals for all exotic species at its new hospital. Along with a dedicated ward there is a separate waiting area and consult rooms for reptiles, birds, and other exotic species. Animal welfare is prioritised in the design with no crossover between prey and predatory species.

Out-of-hours veterinary services

Together, these changes have not only expanded the veterinary services within Plymouth Veterinary Group but also transformed how the clinical team cares for patients. The hospital now offers inpatient care, with an expert out-of-hours vet team available 24/7 and referrals open on Sundays. This improvement ensures the team can provide crucial emergency vet services for patients in the region.
