Our beautiful location makes outdoor activities such as dog walking, hiking, running or horse riding even more enjoyable!

Our team all have a variety of different interests and are readily available and approachable for advice and assistance when required. We appreciate every member of our team and we are close knit group. We are all supportive and we enjoy our working days together and staff nights out! We have regular team meetings, lunch and learns, outings and events. Our team members all have their own interests including equine, small animal surgery, wildlife and exotics. One of our vets has a certificate in radiography and we are keen to support professional development. We work with many local charities, the RSPCA, CPL and other local rescue centres.  We have a wellbeing champion and a mental health first aider in practice. Work/life balance is important to us and our team, we enjoy a wide variety of hobbies including horse riding, cycling, walking so we offer a great rota. During your spare time there is lots for you to enjoy locally!  A good sense of humour and team spirit is essential.

Our sites are well maintained, and the buildings are light and spacious. The practice is RCVS accredited and clinical standards are exceptionally high. We are also very proud to be a Nurse training practice. Our two main sites are well equipped with full diagnostic and surgical facilities, incorporating multiparameter anaesthetic monitoring, endoscopy, range of USS plus the services of local US expert when required in practice, digital radiography and in house lab facilities. One of our CD's has an interest in Orthopaedics and performs TTA procedures regularly, ocular tonometry, dental machines and IDEXX ECG service. We also have a member of staff with a certificate in Radiology.

Step into a supportive start

Your normal hours of work are 40 hours per week, 5 days a week. Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 7.00pm. You are also required to participate in a weekend and bank holiday rota.

You will be fully supported here at Mearley’s. Initially whilst you find your feet you will have one of our experienced Vets with you at all times, then once you feel comfortable, they will step back slightly and be around at all times but not right by your side so should you need any support, help or advice there is always someone around to help. Once you are happy with this stage you will be added to the rota for your own clinics and from there you will become part of the full rota.

In regards to operating, you will initially operate with one of our experienced Vets and as your capability and confidence grows, you will start to operate on your own but always with support in the building. We will be led by you! You tell us what procedures you are comfortable with and then the team know what to book in for you. Further down the line we hold neutering and spay days which allow you to spend the day with an experienced surgeon purely doing these procedures. Previous graduates have told us these days are really valuable and have helped them tremendously.

We value our staff and want to give you every opportunity possible to enable you to stay with us long term. After you have completed the graduate programme, we are happy to offer full funding/support for anyone looking to study a certificate or specialise in certain areas. We have management training programmes if you feel this would be the career direction you are looking for and of course are open to ideas so just let us know what you are looking for!
