Fix or flex – find your perfect balance

Our flexible approach to rota patterns truly enhances your work-life balance. We understand that everyone has personal commitments outside of their careers, and we aim to help you achieve the right balance. A typical working day for our vets starts at 8:30 AM and ends at 6:30 PM, with most of our team working four days a week and enjoying a fixed day off. However, if you have a different schedule in mind, we encourage you to discuss it with us! With the beautiful Norfolk countryside and coast right on our doorstep, we want you to make the most of your time outside of work.

While we have outsourced out-of-hours care, our nursing team provides inpatient cover from Monday to Friday. The diary consists of a blend of operating and consulting time at our main branch in Holt, with a couple of half days for consultations at our smaller branch in sunny Wells-next-the-Sea. Please note that this is sole charge consulting only. Admin time is allocated between consultations, and if additional time is needed, we are always willing to accommodate our vets' requirements.

Your next move

At Glaven Veterinary Practice, we take a personal and friendly approach to animal care, proudly serving the community since the 1960s. Our team of vets has a wealth of experience, ranging from three to 25 years post-qualification. Our well-equipped surgery features a comprehensive range of diagnostic tools, including a dedicated imaging room. To ensure minimal stress for our patients, we have separate wards for cats and dogs, as well as spacious “walk-in” kennels for large dogs, providing a comfortable environment for all pets during their stay.

Discover a Supportive Workplace

We are a collaborative team of four vets, supported by a few wonderful regular locums, allowing our permanent staff to take annual leave while maintaining a manageable workload. If you have a specific interest in veterinary medicine, we are committed to providing you with the support and funding necessary to pursue it. Knowledge sharing is part of our culture, and we encourage ongoing learning.

Our dedicated nursing team consists of seven RVNs, two SVNs, and two ANAs, all committed to patient care and supporting our vets by conducting consultations. We are fortunate to have RVNs with special interests in canine and feline behaviour, emergency and critical care (ECC), and breeding.
