We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive finance professional to support payroll and banking operations within our business. This role involves close liaison with Group Finance teams, investigating balance sheet and payroll queries, preparing accurate payroll journals, and reconciling bank accounts. The successful candidate will manage payroll-related communications, produce and analyse monthly compliance reports, and handle overpayment processes with accuracy and professionalism.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities: 

  • Liaising with the relevant Group Finance teams regarding payroll deductions and balance sheet queries.
  • Be able to independently investigate queries from our balance sheet controls and find solutions.
  • Help manage the emails in relation to all banking and finance queries.
  • Prepare payroll journals for the finance department using payroll reports to ensure accurate entry into the general ledger.
  • Run a set of monthly compliance reports and analyse and conclude from the data reporting back to management.
  • Reconciliation and monitoring of bank accounts and investigation of discrepancies. 
  • Management of overpayments to include informing ex-colleagues of overpayments and responding to subsequent queries and accurately making records of this process.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK payroll legislation required, including PAYE, NI, statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.) and auto-enrolment rules.
  • Any other tasks as directed

  • Experience/Qualifications:

    Essential:
  • Able to work to a high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent IT skills to include strong excel and mathematical skills 
  • Clear and confident communication skills
  • Ability to build strong working relationships across teams and working collaboratively to resolve queries.
  • A strong team ethic
  • Confident of dealing with a high-volume workload with ability to meet deadlines.
  • Flexible approach to work and a positive attitude to taking on new tasks

  • Desirable:
  • Knowledge of balance sheet reconciliations and journal knowledge
  • Experience of responding to and monitoring overpayments queries.
  • Knowledge of Dayforce and Oracle systems.
