About the Role

 

Help Shape the Future of Leadership and People Performance

 

We're looking for a dynamic, commercially minded HR Business Partner to join our evolving HR team, supporting a large network of veterinary practices across the Midlands and North of England.

 

This is a highly influential role where you'll work closely with Practice Leaders, Area Directors and senior stakeholders, helping them strengthen leadership capability and deliver business priorities. You'll be a trusted advisor, coach and challenger, using your HR expertise to translate strategy into practical solutions that drive results.

 

We're looking for someone who enjoys working directly with operational teams, building meaningful relationships, challenging constructively and helping leaders take ownership of their people agenda.

 

What You'll Be Doing

 

As a key member of the HR Business Partnering team, you will:

 
  • Partner with Practice Leaders, Area Directors and senior stakeholders across a geographically diverse region
  • Provide pragmatic, commercially focused HR advice that supports business performance and people outcomes
  • Coach and develop leaders to build confidence, capability and accountability in people management
  • Support leaders with complex employee relations matters and organisational challenges
  • Drive key people initiatives including workforce planning and engagement
  • Challenge existing thinking and encourage progressive leadership practices
  • Build genuine buy-in and engagement through strong relationships and influence
  • Collaborate closely with the wider HR team, sharing knowledge and supporting continuous improvement

    What We're Looking For

     

    We're looking for an experienced HR professional who combines commercial thinking with strong people skills and the confidence to influence at all levels.

     

    You'll ideally have:

     
  • Significant HR Business Partner experience within a complex, multi-site or operational environment
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • A coaching-led approach to developing leaders and driving accountability
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to understand broader business priorities
  • The confidence to challenge constructively while maintaining strong working relationships
  • The ability to adapt your style to different personalities, situations and leadership capabilities
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and problem-solving skills
  • CIPD Level 7 qualification or equivalent practical HR experience

    Practical Considerations

     
  • Extensive travel across the Midlands and North of England is required
  • You should expect to be travelling and visiting practices approximately 3-4 days per week
  • A location within the Midlands, particularly around Derby, would be advantageous, although applications are welcome from candidates across the region
