Are you an experienced leader with a passion for delivering exceptional client and patient care? Castle Vets, part of IVC Evidensia, has a rare opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Practice Manager to lead our friendly team in Reading. 

This is a site-based, people-facing leadership role, perfect for someone who enjoys building strong relationships, supporting others to succeed, and making a real difference to both team and client experience.
 
This is a full time and/or part time role, flexible between the hours of 8am – 7pm.

The Role

 
Working closely with the CD, Head Nurse, Head Receptionist & Finance Administrator, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day to day running of the practice while enhancing both team and client experience. Your responsibilities include:
 
  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the practice
  • Lead, manage, and develop the practice team
  • Drive financial performance, budgeting, and KPI management
  • Ensure compliance with clinical, regulatory, and health & safety standards
  • Deliver exceptional client service and patient care
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance management
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
  •  

    We are looking for someone who:

     
  • Has proven management or leadership experience (veterinary or healthcare background desirable but not essential)
  • Demonstrates strong commercial awareness and financial acumen
  • Is an excellent communicator with the ability to motivate and engage teams
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Is organised, proactive, and solutions-focused
  • Has a genuine passion for people development and client care

    Our Practice & Team

     
    Castle Vets is a well-established, small animal hospital in the centre of Reading with a strong reputation for high clinical standards and compassionate care. We have a very experienced team, with six vets having over 10 years’ qualifications as well as our 12 supportive nurses.
     
    We foster a collaborative, supportive culture with a strong emphasis on knowledge sharing, while also embracing fresh ideas and innovation.
