The location is semi-rural at the gateway to North Wales and the Lake District with easy access to rail and motorway links and striking distance to Liverpool and Manchester. The practice is well equipped with the usual tools e.g. Digital x-ray, in house laboratory, blood machines, ECG, ultrasound scanner, endoscope, Digital x-ray etc which allows the opportunity to work up cases.
How You’ll Make a Difference
We are seeking an experienced, organised, and highly personable Head Veterinary Receptionist to lead our small animal practices front-of-house teams across our three branches in Rufford, Southport and Tarleton. As the first point of contact for our clients and their pets, you will play a vital role in ensuring an exceptional client experience while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practices.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong leadership skills, a passion for client care, and a background in veterinary or healthcare reception.
Key Responsibilities include:
Lead, motivate, and support the reception team, ensuring high standards of service and professionalism
Oversee front desk operations including appointment scheduling, client communications, and workflow management
Handle client queries and concerns with empathy and efficiency
Manage rotas, training, and performance development for reception staff
Ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with practice protocols
Work closely with veterinary surgeons and nurses to optimise client and patient flow
Maintain a welcoming, organised, and calm reception environment
Support practice management with administrative tasks and service improvements

Previous experience in a veterinary, medical, or customer service environment
Proven leadership or supervisory experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
