Practice Manager – Fixed Term Secondment (14 Months)
Alora Vets | 40 hours per week | Salary up to £39,500 DOE

Due to a team member taking up a work secondment, we have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team at Alora Vets as Practice Manager on a 14-month fixed term secondment.

This is an on-site, people-focused leadership role, perfect for someone who enjoys building strong relationships, supporting others to succeed, and making a real difference to both the team and client experience.

Working Hours

This role is 40 hours per week, typically worked Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm.


We are happy to discuss adjustments to the shift pattern for the right candidate to support flexibility where needed.

Our team currently includes 5 Vets, including a Clinical Director with a certificate in Small Animal Medicine, a Lead Vet with a certificate in Small Animal Dentistry, 6 RVNs, including our Head RVN, 1 Student Nurse, 2 Animal Care Assistants, 5 Receptionists, including a Head Receptionist and Deputy Head Receptionist

We are proud to offer a wide range of clinical services, including laparoscopic surgery, physiotherapy, and acupuncture.

Our purpose-built practice includes 4 consultation rooms, separate cat and dog waiting areas, separate cat and dog kennels, isolation ward, purpose-built dental suite with dental x-ray, two operating theatres, dedicated ultrasound and digital x-ray room

The Role

Working closely with the Director of Practice and Clinical Services, Clinical Director, Head RVN, Lead Vet, Head Receptionist and IVC Central Support Teams, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the practice while continually enhancing both the team and client experience.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading, supporting and motivating the practice team to foster a positive and collaborative working environment

Maintaining practice standards and ensuring compliance with RCVS guidelines

Financial management, including:

Managing the practice budget

Stock control

Debt management

Initiating capital expenditure requests

Supporting payroll production and queries

Human Resources responsibilities, including line management and supporting annual reviews alongside the Clinical Director

Oversight of building and equipment maintenance

Supporting the team to maintain Health & Safety compliance

Recruitment and monitoring mandatory and ongoing training compliance

Acting as the first point of contact for IT queries (with support from the central IT team)

Handling and resolving client complaints in a timely and professional manner

Leading and attending practice meetings with the Clinical Director and attending area meetings

We’re looking for a confident, approachable individual with a genuine passion for people and practice culture.

Previous management experience is desirable, but full training and support will be provided for the right candidate.
