We are seeking an organised, personable Receptionist to join our team at Deane Vets on a part-time permanent basis.
We’re a close-knit, caring small animal practice in Taunton. We pride ourselves on providing top-quality veterinary care in a calm, professional environment where teamwork and support are everything. Our team includes 3 receptionists, 1 Administrator, Practice Director, 5 vets, 8 registered veterinary nurses — and we all work together to provide the best care possible. We’re a busy but happy place to work.
How You’ll Make a Difference
As a Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for clients, playing a key role in delivering a welcoming, professional and compassionate experience at every interaction.
You’ll support the smooth running of the practice by managing appointments, handling enquiries, supporting client communications and working closely with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to ensure a positive client and patient journey.
Working Pattern
This is a part-time, permanent role (Average 29 hours/week, excluding lunch/breaks), On a rota Monday-Friday between 8.30am-7pm and 1 in 4 Saturdays 8.30am-1pm.
Key Responsibilities
Greeting clients and their pets with a warm and compassionate smile
Managing appointments and diary bookings, including online and emergency slots
Handling calls, emails, and other client communications efficiently
Supporting clients with registrations for health plans and answering questions
Taking payments, cashing up, and managing client orders and prescriptions
Keeping reception, waiting areas, and consulting rooms clean, welcoming, and well-stocked
Helping out with general admin and ongoing training
