Key Responsibilities
Exceptional Patient Care: Deliver the highest standard of nursing care across all areas of the clinic, ensuring all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are adhered to at all times, including surgical nursing, inpatient care, late nurse duties, and weekend responsibilities.Anaesthesia and Clinical Support: Following full training and under appropriate supervision, assist with and monitor anaesthesia, intubate under veterinary direction, and support Veterinary Surgeons during surgical and diagnostic procedures, maintaining strict aseptic technique including gowning and gloving for theatre.Clinical Procedures & Diagnostics: Perform a range of nursing procedures including venepuncture, urine collection and analysis, skin scrapes, radiography (including processing), routine laboratory procedures, maintenance of tubes and drains, administering enemas, and accurately calculating and administering medications.Medical Records & Compliance: Maintain precise and up-to-date patient and client records, including electronic clinical notes, hospitalisation sheets, and anaesthetic monitoring forms, always ensuring accuracy and compliance.Client Communication: Communicate effectively and compassionately with clients regarding inpatient care and treatment plans, and provide support during reception duties as required.Hygiene & Clinical Standards: Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness throughout the clinic, completing and recording daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks in line with practice protocols. Ensure all equipment is cleaned and maintained appropriately in accordance with SOPs.Stock & Organisation: Ensure all clinical areas are fully stocked at the end of each day and promptly report low stock levels to senior members of the nursing team.Professional Development: Participate in the biannual appraisal process and engage proactively in ongoing professional development opportunities.
About You
We are looking for a proactive and compassionate nurse with proven animal handling experience. You will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to delivering outstanding patient care in a busy clinical environment.
Working Pattern
This role operates on a rota basis, covering shifts of 8 am – 5 pm or 10 am – 7 pm, with 1 in 3 Saturdays as part of the weekend rota.
