Ideally, we would like someone who has some veterinary experience (but this is not essential as a good flexible attitude is more important than experience and training is provided). The role is to provide reception cover across all four of our surgeries in Abingdon, Didcot, Wallingford and Wantage, so a clean current driving license and own car are essential.
About the role
The role is to provide reception cover across all four of our surgeries in Abingdon, Didcot, Wallingford and Wantage, and you will need to be able to travel to any of our sites as required. Aspects of this role include (but are not limited to):
Welcoming clients and their pets in a professional and friendly manner. Managing front-of-house. Pharmacy duties-Assisting with the processing of prescriptions for clients. Dispensing medications. Booking appointments. Stock control. Getting paper-work ready in advance for the Vets. Attending training events to maintain knowledge and awareness required for this role. Keep waiting areas, consulting rooms, and offices, stocked and clean. Entering information onto patient record systems accurately and in a timely manner. Assisting the vets and nurses as and when required. Registering new clients and explaining our services and offers. Taking payments and processing daily banking. Handling complaints/queries. Processing insurance forms. Placing orders for products according to protocol. Some sole charge. Any other administrative tasks.
The rota
We are looking for someone to work 16 hours per week, covering a mix of shifts between 7:30 am- 7.30 pm on Mondays and Tuesdays, with weekend and bank-holiday shifts on rota.
Skills required for this role
To be able to adapt and respond positively to a busy environment. Be comfortable with lone work To be able to explain our services confidently. Have good IT skills (including Excel, social media, and Outlook). Be kind and caring to clients and staff. Have the ability to stay calm and helpful during busy times, and respond to clients with empathy. Be good working with just one other person and small teams. Have confident animal-handling skills. Have a strong sense of energy and initiative.
