Veterinary Receptionist

Kilcoole Veterinary Clinic, Co. Wicklow

Part-time, Permanent

€14.15 per hour

Start date from April 2026

A Warm Front-of-House Role in a Friendly Local Practice

Kilcoole Veterinary Clinic is looking for a welcoming, organised Veterinary Receptionist to join our small, close-knit team on a permanent, part-time basis. This is a varied and people-focused role, ideal for someone who enjoys client interaction, takes pride in being organised, and likes to feel genuinely part of a supportive practice environment.

Whether you already have experience in a veterinary setting or are bringing strong customer service skills from another role, we’re open to all levels of experience, provided you have the right skillset and attitude to thrive in a busy front-of-house position.

The Role

As our Veterinary Receptionist, you’ll be the first point of contact for our clients, providing a friendly, calm and professional welcome both in person and over the phone. Your day will include answering calls and emails, booking and managing appointments, processing payments, basic filing and cashing up, and helping keep the reception area clean, tidy and well organised.

You’ll also support some general cattery duties, including feeding and cleaning, and assist with light administrative tasks to help the practice run smoothly. Basic animal handling is a bonus, but not essential. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is happy to pitch in, take initiative and go the extra mile when needed.

Working Pattern

This is a flexible part-time position with a minimum of 25 hours per week. Shifts are typically half days, alternating between mornings and afternoons, usually around 6–7 hours per shift. Thursday and Friday mornings are required, with the remaining weekdays negotiable. The role also includes working every second Saturday from 9am to 2pm, plus a short evening cattery feeding shift from 4pm to 5pm on those weekends. There is no out-of-hours or bank holiday work.

About You

You’ll be comfortable using computers and confident with basic systems, have strong organisational skills and good attention to detail, and enjoy working in a client-facing role. Clear communication, a friendly manner and a proactive approach are key. Most importantly, you’ll be someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a team that supports one another.
