We are looking for a Veterinary Receptionist to join our team at Oaklawns Veterinary Surgery in Carlow. As a Veterinary Receptionist, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the surgery. Your responsibilities will include:
Managing busy phone lines and scheduling appointments efficiently.
Handling email correspondence and client inquiries professionally.
Processing payments and assisting with account and insurance queries.
Managing stock levels and ensuring the surgery is clean, organised, and well-stocked.
Providing administrative support to the team.
Assisting clinical staff with non-clinical animal handling during consultations when necessary.
Previous reception or customer service experience (experience in a veterinary or medical setting is a bonus but not essential).
Strong communication skills and a passion for delivering excellent client care.
Excellent IT proficiency (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Strong organisational skills and a proactive, detail-oriented attitude.
Full training will be provided on-site, so this is a fantastic opportunity to build your skills and knowledge in a supportive environment.
1 hour for lunch every day.
No Sundays, Bank Holidays, or OOH work.
TOIL (Time Off In Lieu) for overtime.
Salary: Up to €14.15 per hour depending on experience.
Oaklawns Veterinary Surgery is a thriving, first-opinion mixed practice located just 5 minutes from Carlow town centre. Our practice is proud to be part of the local community and dedicated to providing high-quality care. We are growing, particularly on the small animal side, while still maintaining a varied mixed caseload.
You’ll be joining a close-knit, supportive team consisting of 5 veterinary surgeons, 3 veterinary nurses, and 3 support staff, all of whom work collaboratively to provide the best care for our clients and their pets.

Working Hours & Benefits:
Full-time role: 42 hours per week over 5 days (Tuesday to Saturday).
Shifts:
Tuesday to Friday: Shift 1 – 8:30am to 6:00pm, or Shift 2 – 9:00am to 6:30pm.
Saturday: 8:30am to 5:00pm.
