Alder Vets are looking for a Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our fantastic close-knit team. The successful candidate will be based at our Bourne clinic and work alongside our other Head Nurse based in Spalding.

We are a relatively small but busy first opinion practice, with a wide range of experience within the team. Our nurses must be able to multitask and meet the challenges of the day. One day you could be in theatre, the next day you could running our busy and varied nurse consults. The successful candidate will be a person with a passion for nursing and a willingness to lead and support a team. This role would suit a friendly confident team player who can work hard with a smile and a genuine passion for animals.

The Rota

Ideally, we are looking for 40 hours a week but can be flexible for the right candidate. The shifts can either be 4 days at 10 hours or shorter shifts across the week ranging from 8am until 7pm. Our nursing team share the Saturday morning rota 1 in 4 with no out of hours and no bank holiday work.

Our Practice

We have two very well-established surgeries in the Lincolnshire market towns of Spalding and Bourne, both of which have a loyal client base of well over 20 years. We are situated close to the historic town of Stamford where you can visit Burghley House, Burghley Horse Trials, or Rutland Water, and Peterborough is approximately half an hour away with direct train lines into London.

Both practices are equipped with digital radiography, Spalding has recently upgraded to the CSDR small animal DR system X-ray, we have modern ultrasound machines at each branch, endoscope, and in-house blood testing equipment. We also have good-sized theatres and consult rooms for our varied first opinion cases. Our Spalding branch has very recently been refurbished to a high spec finish and our Bourne branch is next on the list.

Our Team

Our friendly team comprises of 3 Veterinary Surgeons, 3 experienced Registered Veterinary Nurses, 2 Student Nurses ,1 Veterinary Care Assistant, and a full team of Receptionists. None of us could do our jobs properly without each other! We are a very encouraging team who are always willing to step in and work together in times of need and we work hard to provide the highest standards in client and animal care. Our team of Vets and Nurses will always talk through all options of care with our clients to ensure they are making the most informed choices, and we work closely with various referral practices to be able to offer that option if required.

We are lucky enough to have access and utilise the IVC Evidensia Care Fund which is a group-wide initiative, providing vital financial assistance to owners. The fund can be accessed to support the treatment of animals with a good prognosis, but where the cost of treatment is out of reach.

As a practice we work closely with a variety of local charities, we have particularly close connections with our local Cats Protection League
