We are seeking a knowledgeable, confident Head Veterinary Nurse to join our team at White Cross Vets on a full-time basis.
The practice itself is well equipped with modern facilities, including dental X-ray, digital X-ray, a new ultrasound machine, an in-house laboratory, and Sedivue. Our team currently consists of two veterinary surgeons, with a third due to return from maternity leave soon, alongside two Registered Veterinary Nurses and an additional RVN role we are looking to fill. The nursing team is supported by a Student Veterinary Nurse, as well as a Head Receptionist and a Client Care Coordinator, creating a friendly and well-supported working environment.
We are supported by a dedicated people team, as well as our own nursing and veterinary boards, and we work closely in collaboration with our neighbouring clinics in Stanningley, Guiseley and Roundhay, creating a strong and connected network.
It’s the small things that really matter to us. We hold monthly wellbeing afternoons, giving the team time to step away from the day-to-day and spend time together. Our teams have access to a dedicated evening helpline, and our leadership team is committed to truly knowing and supporting individuals, not just managing them. We understand that stepping into a Head Nurse role can feel like a big move, and we provide a supportive environment where you don’t need to have everything figured out from day one, we’ll help you build on your strengths and support your ongoing development.
IVC Evidensia is the UK and Europe’s leading veterinary care group, made up of over 900 practices and referral hospitals, united by a shared purpose of happier animals, happier owners.
At IVC Evidensia, we believe careers should be built without limits. Our people are supported to make more clinical impact, access more career opportunities, and play an active role in their local and professional communities. Through investment in learning, innovation, and wellbeing, we create environments where our teams can grow in confidence, capability, and fulfilment—at every stage of their career.
How You’ll Make a Difference
As a Head Veterinary Nurse, you will provide senior clinical and professional leadership for the nursing team, overseeing all nursing aspects of the practice and supporting the delivery of high-quality patient and client care.
You’ll be responsible for setting and maintaining nursing standards, leading clinical governance and quality improvement activity, and developing a capable, confident nursing team. Working closely with the wider practice leadership team, you'll play a key role in shaping culture, performance and ways of working.
This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week across 4 or 5 days including a 1 in 4 Saturday morning rota.
You’ll be working closely with a Practice Director who takes a coaching approach, giving you space to think, ask questions, build confidence, and find your own way of leading. You will also work closely with our head receptionist as well as our long standing clinic director.
We’re big on supporting each other rather than struggling on quietly. People step in, check in, and lift each other when it’s needed. We also have the White Cross central office just over in Guiseley, so there’s always someone to reach out to if you need a bit of guidance or a second opinion.
You Might Be a Great Fit If...

Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills
How We’ll Support You
