We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Rufford Vets, Southport on a full-time basis. Part-time applications will also be considered.

Rufford Veterinary Group provides a high-quality first opinion service supported by advanced diagnostics and procedures. Our team cares for a wide range of patients including dogs, cats, rabbits, and a variety of avian and exotic species, alongside a busy and engaging emergency caseload.

You’ll primarily be based at our Southport site, with occasional opportunities to support our other branches in Rufford and Tarleton. You’ll be joining a friendly, collaborative team with a strong focus on delivering gold-standard patient care and excellent client service.

 
 

How You’ll Make a Difference 

 
 
As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.
 
You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a varied first opinion caseload, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

This is a varied role where you will be involved in all aspects of nursing, including theatre work, inpatient care, nurse consultations, emergency case support, diagnostics, and client communication.

This role can be worked over a 4 or 5 day week, with shifts between 7:00am and 9:00pm. There is a 1 in 5 weekend rota, with no out-of-hours work after 7:00pm.

 
General responsibilities include:
 
  • Deliver high standards of nursing care across a varied first opinion caseload 
  • Support surgical procedures, including anaesthesia monitoring and theatre nursing 
  • Provide excellent inpatient care and support patient recovery 
  • Run nurse consultations and support preventative healthcare

  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS 
  • Experience working in clinical practice, with confidence in medical and surgical nursing 
  • Experience and aptitude for supporting, mentoring or informally coaching colleagues 
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A proactive approach to quality improvement, learning and professional development
