We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Ardene House Veterinary Hospital on a full-time, 12 month contract. 

 

Our purpose-built hospital, based in the beautiful outskirts of Kingswells, Aberdeen, provides small animal, equine, and farm animal veterinary services. We also have a branch in Bridge of Don, offering convenient companion animal care to the local community.


Our team includes certificate holders in surgery and medicine, and we host visiting specialists in cardiology, dermatology, and pain management. We’ve recently welcomed Aberdeen Veterinary Referrals, offering advanced orthopaedic and internal medicine services within our facility.

Our hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including:
Separate canine, feline, isolation, and critical care wards
CT scanner, digital x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, and modern theatre suites
A strong focus on patient comfort and safety

 

How You’ll Make a Difference

 

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.

 

You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

 

Working Pattern

 
  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday–Friday with shifts between 7:30 am and 7:30 pm
  • 1 in 5 Saturdays, paid as overtime
  • No OOH responsibilities

    General Responsibilities

     
  • Assisting vets with both surgical and non-surgical procedures
    Providing high standards of inpatient care, with a dedicated kennel nurse each day
    Supporting patient workups including x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, and CT scans
    Anaesthetic monitoring and support
    Dental work, including scale and polish and dental x-rays
    Assisting with laparoscopic and orthopaedic procedures
    Running nurse clinics

  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
  • Experience working in clinical practice, with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
