We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at South Wales Vets on a full-time, 12-month fixed-term basis.

 

South Wales Vets is a three-branch small animal practice with sites in Abertillery, Blackwood and Newport. This role is based at our Abertillery practice, where you’ll be part of a supportive team delivering high-quality first opinion care to our patients and clients.

 

Our practice is within a short drive of the Brecon Beacons, offering plenty of opportunities for walking, exploring and enjoying the countryside, while Cardiff is around 30 minutes away.

 

How You’ll Make a Difference

 

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.

 

You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

 

Working Pattern

 
  • 40 hours per week
  • 4 days per week, working 8:30am–7:00pm
  • 1 in 4 Saturdays, working 9:00am–2:00pm
  • No out-of-hours requirement
  • 12-month fixed-term contract

    General Responsibilities

     
  • Conduct nurse-led consultations and provide client education
  • Provide high-quality nursing care, monitor patients, administer medications and support recovery
  • Prepare patients for procedures, monitor anaesthesia and provide perioperative and post-operative care

    We’re looking for a confident and motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse who enjoys working as part of a team and delivering high standards of care. You’ll bring:

     
  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
  • Ideally, at least one year of post-qualification experience
  • Experience working in clinical practice, with confidence in medical and surgical nursing
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively
  • A proactive approach to learning, reflection and continuous improvement
