Registered Veterinary Nurse – Alma Veterinary Hospital

A place where nurses are valued, supported and able to do the job they trained for

Alma Veterinary Hospital is excited to welcome a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to our genuinely friendly, kind and supportive team. We are a practice that truly believes happy staff create happy patients — and that belief shapes everything we do.

This is a role for a nurse who wants to be trusted, listened to and respected, in a workplace where your wellbeing matters just as much as your clinical skills.

We don’t do blame, hierarchy or “just get on with it” culture — we work together, support one another and celebrate the wins, big and small.

Why Alma is different

Many RVNs feel burnt out, under-used or unheard. At Alma, we are proud to offer something different:

• Nurses are genuinely valued and have a strong voice in how the practice runs
• No-blame, supportive culture – we help each other grow, not tear each other down
• Proper nursing – you will be encouraged to use the full range of your skills
• A calm, organised working day where patient care comes first
• Kind, loyal clients and a lovely team atmosphere
• Many of our nurses have stayed for years because they feel respected and happy here

We aim to create a workplace where you can enjoy being a nurse again.

State-of-the-art hospital

You will be working in a well-equipped, modern hospital that allows you to practise gold-standard nursing:

• Separate dog and cat areas to reduce stress
• Multiple consult rooms
• Dedicated imaging suite
• Fully equipped prep and theatre
• In-house laboratory
• Modern anaesthesia and monitoring
• Dental X-ray
• DR X-ray
• Endoscopy
• Laparoscopic surgery

This means real involvement in diagnostics, surgery and patient care — not just holding animals.

Your role

This is a true general nursing role, giving you variety, autonomy and the chance to fully use your skills.
You will be involved in:

• Theatre and anaesthesia
• Nurse consults and clinics
• Inpatient and ward care
• Imaging and diagnostics
• Supporting medical and surgical cases
• Client communication and education

You’ll be trusted to think, contribute ideas, and make a difference — not just follow instructions.

Hours and rota

We know work-life balance matters.

• Shifts between 8am and 7pm
• One night shift per week
• 1 in 6 weekends
• We are happy to consider a 4-day working week (pro-rata)
• Fair, planned rota with proper rest and recovery time

We work hard to keep the rota sustainable, predictable and kind.

Join our supportive team

You’ll be joining a warm, welcoming group of vets, nurses and support staff who look after one another.
You will never be made to feel silly for asking questions or speaking up.

You will find:
• Kind leadership
• A listening ear
• A safe place to learn and grow
• A team that celebrates birthdays, wins and milestones
• Protected breaks, a proper staff room and free parking

We believe that when nurses feel safe, supported and appreciated, patient care naturally thrives.
