Grow Your Confidence, Build Your Skills and Be Part of Something Exciting at Athlone Vets

We're excited to be growing our nursing team and are looking for a Veterinary Nurse to join us on the next stage of our journey.

Whether you're a newly qualified RVN looking for your very first nursing role or an experienced nurse seeking a fresh challenge, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a welcoming, close-knit team where support, development and learning are part of everyday life.

As our practice continues to grow, so does our nursing team. This is a brand-new position created to support our expanding caseload and gives the successful candidate the opportunity to become an important part of a friendly, collaborative practice where every team member is valued.

The Perfect Place to Start Your Nursing Career

Starting out as a Veterinary Nurse can feel both exciting and daunting. At Athlone Vets, we understand that confidence takes time, which is why we've created an environment where questions are encouraged, support is always available and learning never stops.

Our team is passionate about helping nurses develop their skills and reach their full potential. You'll be working alongside experienced Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Nurse who genuinely enjoy sharing their knowledge and supporting the next generation of veterinary professionals.

For a new graduate, this role offers an excellent first step into practice with the right balance of guidance, independence and hands-on experience. For experienced nurses, it offers the opportunity to further develop your clinical skills while becoming part of a growing and ambitious team.

A Role with Variety and Opportunity

As a Veterinary Nurse at Athlone, you'll be involved in all aspects of nursing care within a busy and well-equipped practice. From monitoring anaesthesia and caring for inpatients to assisting with procedures, running nurse consultations and supporting clients, no two days are ever quite the same.

This is a role where you'll be encouraged to fully utilise your nursing qualification while continuing to develop new skills and interests along the way. We believe in empowering our nurses to take responsibility, contribute ideas and play an active role in patient care.

You'll be supported every step of the way while also having the freedom to grow in confidence and develop your own nursing style.

Join a Team That Feels Like Family

What sets Athlone Vets apart is our people.

We are proud of the warm, supportive culture we've built and the positive relationships that exist throughout the practice. We work hard for our patients, but we also make time for each other, celebrate successes together and create an environment where everyone feels welcomed and respected.

As a growing team, we're looking for someone who enjoys being part of a collaborative workplace and wants to contribute positively to the culture we've worked hard to create.

A Practice with Strong Foundations

Athlone Vets is a well-established mixed animal practice providing veterinary care to companion animals and farm clients throughout the region.

Our team is committed to delivering excellent patient care while providing a positive and encouraging environment for both experienced professionals and those starting their careers. We take pride in helping our nurses develop clinically while ensuring they feel supported personally and professionally.

Working Pattern

This is a full-time permanent position working 40 hours per week over five days.

Shifts are worked on a rota basis between 8:00am and 7:00pm, Monday to Friday, with participation in a shared Saturday rota. Saturday shifts are worked between 8:30am and 4:00pm as part of the wider nursing team schedule.

We aim to provide a balanced and fair rota that supports both excellent patient care and a healthy work-life balance.

Who We're Looking For

We're seeking a Veterinary Nurse who is enthusiastic, compassionate and eager to learn. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to be part of a supportive team and is passionate about delivering excellent patient care.

You may be a graduate nurse preparing to start your career, a recent graduate looking for the right practice to build your confidence, or an experienced RVN searching for a new opportunity within a growing team.
