We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at South Devon Veterinary Hospital on a part-time basis.

Our friendly and well-established practices are located across the Newton Abbot and Torquay area of South Devon, perfectly positioned between the stunning landscapes of Dartmoor and the South Devon coastline.

Across our sites, you'll have access to excellent facilities including in-house laboratory equipment, CT, ultrasound, endoscopy, tonometry, digital X-ray, and dental X-ray. Our referral hospital also provides specialist ophthalmology and orthopaedic services, alongside advanced procedures such as laparoscopic surgery and outpatient CT imaging.

How You’ll Make a Difference 

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences. 
 
You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice. 
 
This role will be a 9 month fixed term contract working 16 hours per week Wednesday 09:30am - 17:30pm and Thursday 08:30am - 18:30pm plus Saturday Rota with TOIL given in the following week.

Day to day duties include supporting the Vets in surgery – (placing IV lines, taking bloods, monitoring anaesthetics, setting up fluids, assisting with radiographs) and providing in-patient care.

We all have a share of the responsibilities here, spending time between the surgical, medical and nurse clinic duties to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to increase their skills and knowledge. We run extensive nurse clinics and we’re always open to new ideas to expand and improve them.

  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS 
  • Experience working in clinical practice, with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing 
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues 
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively
