Wards Veterinary Centre is looking for an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our busy and supportive team in Elgin, Scotland.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established practice with a strong reputation for high clinical standards and excellent client care. You will work as part of a collaborative and experienced clinical team, supported by a highly skilled nursing team who play a vital role in delivering outstanding patient care and maintaining smooth day-to-day practice operations.
The role offers a varied first opinion caseload including consultations and routine surgery, within a supportive environment that encourages clinical development and teamwork.

Varied first opinion caseload including consultations and routine surgical work

Out-of-hours cover primarily provided by Highland Vet Emergencies
Saturday morning consults only (minimal weekend commitment)

As a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality patient and client care.
Provide consultations, diagnostics, and routine surgical procedures
Work closely with a skilled and proactive nursing team
Deliver high standards of clinical care in a busy first opinion environment
Contribute to collaborative case management and team-based care
Participate in a low-frequency Saturday morning rota
No routine out-of-hours requirement (covered externally)
Working Pattern:
Full-time: 40 hours per week OR
Flexible option: 1 month on / 1 month off rota pattern available
Saturday morning consults every 4–6 weeks (with time off in lieu)
Flexible scheduling supported to suit lifestyle preferences

You are a confident and experienced small animal veterinary surgeon who enjoys working in a supportive, team-focused environment. You’ll bring:
A Veterinary degree and RCVS registration (or eligibility)
Experience in small animal first opinion practice
Confidence in consultations and routine surgical procedures
Strong teamwork and communication skills
A commitment to high clinical and client care standards
Flexibility to work across varied rota patterns
