Enjoy True Variety in a Thriving Mixed Practice in Ireland's Sunny South East

Gorey Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join our experienced and friendly team in one of Ireland's most desirable locations. This is an exciting opportunity for a clinician who enjoys genuine variety in their working week, with a rewarding mix of small animal and farm animal work, supported by a collaborative team and excellent facilities.

Whether you're looking for a full-time position or a role that offers greater flexibility, we are open to discussing working arrangements that suit both your professional ambitions and lifestyle.

A Mixed Role with Real Variety

Our caseload is approximately 70% small animal, 30% large animal and a minimal amount of equine, providing an ideal balance for veterinarians who enjoy maintaining a broad skillset.

A typical week includes a mixture of small animal consultations, surgery and medical work alongside large animal farm visits, TB testing and routine call-outs. The role offers enough diversity to keep every day interesting while allowing you to develop confidence and expertise across multiple areas of practice.

Our vets work an average of 40 hours per week across two weekday shift patterns:

  • 8:30am to 5:30pm
  • 10:30am to 7:30pm
  •
Saturday clinics run from 9:00am to 2:30pm on a 1 in 6 rota, with a half-day TOIL provided. We also operate a 1 in 6 weekend on-call rota, with a full day TOIL following your on-call weekend.

Importantly, the practice is not open to the public on Sundays or Bank Holidays, and our out-of-hours commitment is shared with a neighbouring veterinary practice, helping to maintain a sustainable work-life balance.

A Progressive Practice with Excellent Facilities

At Gorey Veterinary Hospital, we've made significant investment in our facilities to ensure our team can deliver outstanding patient care while working with modern equipment.

Recent upgrades include a digital radiography system with bucky table and a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine, enhancing our diagnostic capabilities across both small and large animal cases.

You'll be joining an established and supportive team comprising of 6 Veterinary Surgeons, 3 Veterinary Nurses, 2 Animal Care Assistants and 3 Receptionists.

Collaboration is a core part of our culture. Our team works closely together, sharing knowledge and supporting one another to achieve the best outcomes for patients, clients and farm customers alike.

Live and Work in Beautiful Gorey

Located in north County Wexford, Gorey is one of Ireland's most vibrant and attractive market towns. Situated in the heart of the sunny south east, it offers an exceptional quality of life, a strong sense of community and all the amenities needed for modern living.

The town boasts excellent cafés, restaurants, shops and leisure facilities while retaining the welcoming atmosphere of a close-knit community. Its location roughly halfway between Dublin and Wexford Town makes it ideal for those seeking a more balanced lifestyle without sacrificing connectivity.

For outdoor enthusiasts, some of Ireland's most beautiful coastline is right on your doorstep. Ballymoney Beach and Courtown Beach are just a short drive away, while Courtown Woods offers scenic forest trails perfect for walking, running and cycling.

Gorey also benefits from excellent transport links via the M11 motorway and regular rail services, providing straightforward access to Dublin, other towns across the south east and Dublin Airport.

    Who We're Looking For
