Veterinary Practitioner – Small Animal
All Creatures Veterinary Clinic, County Roscommon
Part-time, Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover)
Salary up to €32 per hour DOE
The Role
All Creatures Veterinary Clinic is currently seeking an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Practitioner to join our team on a part-time, fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. This is a hands-on clinical role involving both consulting and surgical duties within a friendly and well-organised mixed practice environment.
The position is part time, working a three-day week, with one in three Saturdays included. The specific working days are flexible and can be arranged to suit the successful applicant, making this an excellent opportunity for a vet seeking balance alongside clinical satisfaction.
This role is suited to a confident practitioner who enjoys first opinion work and is comfortable working independently within a supportive team.
About the Practice
All Creatures Veterinary Clinic is a well-established mixed practice serving the local Roscommon community. While the role itself is small-animal focused, the practice also has on-site holding and facilities for cattle and calves, creating a varied and interesting professional setting.
The clinic is well equipped with in-house blood testing, digital X-ray, ultrasound scanning, and a dedicated dental machine. You will be working alongside two small animal vets, one full time and one part time, as well as a team of four experienced large animal vets. The wider team is collaborative, approachable, and proud of delivering good, practical veterinary care.
About Us
We are a close-knit team who value professionalism, communication, and doing right by both our clients and each other. We aim to create a working environment where vets feel supported, trusted, and able to focus on providing high-quality care without unnecessary pressure.
As a practice, we believe strongly in sustainable workloads, mutual respect, and treating people like people, not rotas.
Why Join All Creatures
This role offers the chance to step into an established caseload within a friendly clinic where systems are already in place and support is readily available. You will be given the autonomy expected of an experienced practitioner, while still being part of a team that values discussion and shared decision-making.
The flexible working pattern, combined with a strong benefits package, makes this an attractive opportunity for vets looking for a part-time role without compromising on clinical standards or job satisfaction.
Applicant Requirements
Applicants must be VCI registered and have prior experience in first opinion small animal practice. You should be confident with routine consultations and surgery, and comfortable managing your own caseload.
This position is not suitable for new graduates or for candidates who require structured mentorship.
