At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK's leading veterinary care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals every year. We believe veterinary careers should be built without limits, which is why we invest in learning, wellbeing, innovation, and creating opportunities for our teams to thrive.
Lawrie Vet Group is a growing, forward-thinking small animal practice with a strong reputation for delivering excellent patient care and building lasting client relationships. Operating across four sites in Cumbernauld, Falkirk, Laurieston and our recently opened Bo'ness branch, we offer the benefits of a larger group whilst maintaining the supportive feel of a close-knit practice team.
Whether you're looking to further develop your clinical skills, gain exposure to a varied caseload, or simply join a team where collaboration and support are genuinely valued, this is an exciting opportunity to become part of a practice that is continuing to grow and evolve.
As a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon, you'll enjoy a varied first-opinion caseload across consultations, surgery, diagnostics, and ongoing case management. The role offers plenty of clinical variety, with opportunities to work cases up thoroughly and follow them through, supported by experienced colleagues across the wider group.
You'll be involved in routine medicine and surgery alongside more complex work-ups, helping to deliver continuity of care and excellent clinical outcomes for both patients and clients.
The position is full-time, working 40 hours per week on a structured rota. The rota includes inpatient responsibilities during evenings and weekends, although the team works hard to ensure a fair and balanced approach that supports a healthy work-life balance. Part-time applications may also be considered.
One of the biggest strengths of Lawrie Vet Group is its people. You'll be joining an experienced and supportive team of Veterinary Surgeons, RVNs and support colleagues who enjoy sharing knowledge, discussing cases, and helping one another develop.
Across the group there are vets with certificates and advanced clinical interests, creating excellent opportunities for mentorship, case discussion, and clinical progression. The nursing team plays an active role in patient care, running nurse clinics and supporting inpatient management, allowing vets to focus on delivering high-quality clinical care.
The practice sees a broad and varied caseload, including occasional exotic species, with dedicated colleagues leading on exotic work-ups and case management. Modern diagnostic equipment and well-equipped facilities across all sites ensure the team can work cases up to a high standard while continuing to develop services for clients and patients.
Working across Cumbernauld, Falkirk, Laurieston and Bo'ness offers the best of both worlds — easy access to Scotland's major cities alongside beautiful countryside, coastline, and outdoor spaces.
Each branch has its own personality and client base, creating a diverse and engaging working environment while still feeling part of one wider team. The culture is supportive, welcoming, and focused on collaboration, with a genuine emphasis on helping colleagues grow in confidence and enjoy their careers.
With excellent transport links to Glasgow, Edinburgh and beyond, the area is ideal for those looking for flexibility in where they live, whilst still enjoying everything Central Scotland has to offer.
