Inglis Vets are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our large, friendly, and forward-thinking team based in Dunfermline. This role offers an exciting mix of branch and hospital work, allowing you to enjoy the variety of first opinion practice while also gaining exposure to more complex and challenging cases. Hospital shifts include managing intensive care and hospitalised patients, while branch work allows you to build strong client relationships and develop continuity with your own caseload.
You’ll be supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team including RVNs, Animal Care Assistants, and a dedicated Client Care team, alongside visiting specialists in orthopaedics, dermatology, and ophthalmology.

As a Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.
You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.
Deliver high-quality consultations, diagnostics, and treatment plans across a varied caseload
Perform routine surgical procedures and support the management of more complex hospital cases
Provide care for hospitalised and intensive care patients during hospital shifts
Build strong client relationships and continuity of care within branch practice
Work collaboratively with RVNs, Animal Care Assistants, and the wider clinical team
Participate in the in-house Out of Hours rota with support from experienced Night Nurses
Contribute positively to the supportive and collaborative culture of the practice
Working Pattern
40 hours per week
Full-time typically worked over 4 weekdays Monday-Friday between 7:45am and 7pm
Part-time applications welcomed
1 in 12 blocks of night duty (4pm–8am)
Generous stand-down period following night duty blocks
1 in 12 weekend day rota

You are a confident and motivated veterinary surgeon who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to delivering high-quality patient and client care. You’ll bring:
A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS
Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development
Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Enthusiasm for delivering high clinical standards and excellent patient care
