Dorset Coast Vets is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly, growing team, offering an exciting opportunity to become part of a practice that genuinely values clinical freedom, professional autonomy and exceptional standards of patient care.

 

Based primarily at our Weymouth practice, with some time spent supporting our Dorchester site, this role offers the chance to work across two well-established clinics while building strong relationships with a loyal and expanding client base.

 

As a busy first-opinion small animal practice, we see a varied caseload that is predominantly canine, alongside cats and rabbits. The position offers an excellent balance of consultations and surgery, with flexibility available for those who would prefer a predominantly consulting role.

    You'll be joining a collaborative and experienced team of five Veterinary Surgeons, nine RVNs and a dedicated Client Care Team, all supported by our Practice Director. Teamwork, knowledge-sharing and professional development are central to our culture, creating an environment where clinicians are encouraged to grow and thrive.

     

    How You’ll Make a Difference

     

    As a Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

     

    You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

     

    Working Pattern

     
  • Full-time is 40 hours per week over 4 or 5 days
  • 2 in 8 Saturdays, 8:30am – 4:30pm
  • No weekends outside of the Saturday rota
  • No out-of-hours or on-call commitment

    You are a confident and motivated veterinary surgeon who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to delivering high-quality patient and client care. You’ll bring:

     
  • A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS
  • Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
  • A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development
  • Professionalism, reliability and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
