Join a Practice Where People Genuinely Enjoy Coming to Work

At Wexford Veterinary Hospital, we're looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly, down-to-earth team. We are a busy mixed practice in Ireland's sunny South East, with a loyal client base, an excellent reputation locally, and a strong team culture that we're incredibly proud of.

This role offers a fantastic mix of large and small animal work, with a good mix of our caseload focused on farm animals and  companion animals. It's an ideal opportunity for a vet who enjoys the variety that mixed practice brings, has a passion for farm work and client relationships, and wants to be part of a supportive team where their contribution is genuinely valued.

For more experienced vets, there is scope to take a leading role in the continued development of our large animal service. Equally, we'd be happy to support a confident graduate who is comfortable with routine farm work and keen to develop their skills within a welcoming and experienced team.

What Life at Wexford Veterinary Hospital Looks Like

You'll be joining a team of 10 Veterinary Surgeons, 5 Registered Veterinary Nurses and 6 support staff who work closely together and enjoy what they do. We believe the best clinical outcomes come from collaboration, open discussion and supporting one another when things get busy.

Our large animal work is varied and rewarding, including herd health planning, fertility work, TB testing, ambulatory farm visits, preventative medicine and emergency care. Alongside this, you'll also be involved in a diverse small animal caseload, ranging from routine consultations and surgery to more complex medical cases.

We are fortunate to work from a modern, purpose-built veterinary hospital equipped with digital radiography, ultrasound, in-house laboratory facilities, dedicated surgical theatres, dental facilities and advanced monitoring equipment. We are committed to providing our team with the resources, training and support they need to practise excellent medicine and surgery.

Who We're Looking For

More than anything, we're looking for someone who enjoys being part of a team and building lasting relationships with clients.

You'll be a VCI registered Veterinary Surgeon with good clinical judgement, strong communication skills and a genuine interest in mixed or large animal practice. You should be confident handling routine farm work and comfortable working independently during farm visits and emergency call-outs when required.

We're particularly interested in speaking to personable, organised vets who enjoy working closely with farming clients and who are keen to continue learning and developing throughout their career.

If you're someone who enjoys sharing ideas, supporting colleagues and helping to drive a service forward, we'd love to hear from you.

What We Offer

We know that finding the right practice is about much more than salary, so we've worked hard to create an environment where people can enjoy their work, develop their careers and maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Alongside a competitive salary package tailored to experience, we offer a company vehicle, a 40-hour working week and participation in a balanced, shared 1-in-4 out-of-hours rota.

Professional development is actively encouraged, with a generous CPD allowance, funded certificates, paid VCI and VDS membership, and genuine opportunities for career progression. We also offer pension contributions, paid maternity and paternity benefits, employee wellbeing support, staff discounts and access to a wide range of additional IVC Evidensia benefits.
