Veterinary Practitioner – Small Animal

Shenick Veterinary Hospital, Skerries

Salary up to €55,000 DOE

Start date from April 2026

A Flexible Small Animal Role That Grows With You

If you’re looking for a small animal role that genuinely adapts to how you want to work, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. Shenick Veterinary Hospital is welcoming a Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly, progressive team on a full-time or part-time fixed-term contract (minimum six months), with a start date from April 2026. With a salary of up to €55,000 DOE, this role is designed to offer variety, balance and real clinical satisfaction.

Shape the Role Around Your Strengths

This is a true first-opinion GP position, but with flexibility at its core. Whether you’re an experienced clinician looking to focus more heavily on surgery or develop a particular clinical interest, or a confident junior vet comfortable with basic medicine and routine surgery who’s keen to progress, we’re keen to talk. We’re open to shaping the role around your experience, interests and long-term goals.

Your day-to-day work will include consultations, routine procedures, dentals and medical case work-ups, all within a supportive environment that gives you the time and resources to work cases up properly. If surgery is your passion, we’re very open to building a stronger surgical focus into the role.

Work-Life Balance That’s Actually Respected

One of the standout features of this role is the lifestyle it offers. There’s no out-of-hours or on-call work, no bank holidays, and a predictable rota that keeps your evenings your own. The role is based on a 40-hour week (with part-time options available), worked Monday to Saturday between 8.30am and 6.30pm, with just one Saturday in three (9.30am4.00pm).

A Modern Hospital With a Strong Support Network

Shenick Veterinary Hospital is well-equipped with digital and dental X-ray, ultrasound, an in-house laboratory and hydrotherapy facilities. As part of a wider group that includes clinics in Balbriggan and Stamullen, you’ll benefit from access to a broad clinical network of experienced vets, including certificate holders. This allows for internal referrals, collaboration and excellent professional support.

On site, you’ll be joining a close-knit team of vets, nurses, a clinical director and dedicated support staff who value teamwork, communication and quality care.

Who We’d Love to Hear From

You’ll be a VCI-registered Veterinary Surgeon, confident in routine consultations, case work-ups and standard surgeries. While experience is preferred, this role could also suit a capable junior vet ready to take the next step in a busy, well-supported first-opinion practice.
