Shape Your Ideal Veterinary Career in the Heart of Ireland
Tullamore Pet Hospital is seeking a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our progressive and supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident clinician looking to join a well-established hospital where clinical standards are high, teamwork is valued, and individual interests are encouraged.
Whether you're a confident general practitioner seeking a fresh challenge or an experienced vet looking for greater clinical autonomy and work-life balance, you'll find the opportunity to thrive within our friendly and collaborative environment.
A Role with Variety, Autonomy and Clinical Freedom
This position offers a diverse caseload encompassing consultations, medicine, surgery, inpatient care and emergency work. Our veterinarians enjoy genuine clinical freedom and are encouraged to contribute ideas, influence hospital protocols, and shape the future direction of our practice.
We are open to both full-time and part-time applicants, with a flexible approach to working arrangements wherever possible. The rota includes just 1 in 4 Saturdays, with one weeknight of light on-call per week but no weekend on-call commitment.
This role is particularly suited to veterinarians who are comfortable managing cases independently and who enjoy working within a supportive team of experienced colleagues.
Join a Progressive Hospital Team
Tullamore Pet Hospital is a purpose-built small animal hospital with an established reputation for delivering high-quality patient care. Our experienced team comprises 4 veterinary surgeons, 3 veterinary nurses and 4 dedicated administrative team members, creating a collaborative environment where everyone works together to achieve the best outcomes for patients and clients.
We see a broad and interesting mix of medical and surgical cases, supported by modern facilities and comprehensive diagnostic capabilities. The hospital is fully equipped with in-house laboratory services, diagnostic imaging, dedicated theatre facilities and all the tools required to practise to a high clinical standard.
A particular strength of our team is medicine. Several of our team members hold certificates in Internal Medicine, providing excellent support for complex medical cases and allowing colleagues with a surgical interest the opportunity to pursue and develop that area of practice.

Located in the centre of Ireland, Tullamore offers an exceptional quality of life with the convenience of excellent transport links and significantly lower living costs than the major cities.
Dublin city and Dublin Airport can both be reached in under an hour by road or rail, making domestic and international travel straightforward while allowing you to enjoy a more relaxed pace of life. The area is known for its welcoming community, vibrant town centre, excellent schools, beautiful countryside and abundance of outdoor activities.
Living in the Midlands means you're never far from Ireland's most popular destinations, with Galway, Kilkenny and the country's stunning west coast all within easy reach for weekends away.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a VCI-registered veterinary surgeon who enjoys delivering excellent clinical care and who values being part of a collaborative team environment.
You will be confident managing routine consultations, diagnostics and surgery, with the ability to work independently whilst knowing when to seek input from colleagues. We welcome applications from experienced general practitioners and those looking to further develop a particular clinical interest.
This position is not suitable for new graduates or veterinarians requiring a high level of day-to-day supervision or structured graduate mentorship.
