At Pets 1st we have a longstanding team with a wealth of knowledge who put pet care at the heart of everything we do, with 4.5 vets supported by 6 RVN's and 2 SVN's, a clinical coach and a full reception team. 

Our nurses are highly experienced with multiple certificates between them; they are a huge support to the veterinary team. You will have clinical freedom with a varied caseload, and opportunities to specialise - whether that’s studying for a certificate, offering specialist services, or advancing your surgical expertise.

How You’ll Make a Difference

 

As a Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

 

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

 
Led by Clinical Director Andy and Deputy Clinical Director David - with over 20 years’ combined experience - our team of 4 vets is supported by 6 RVN's and 2 SVN's and a clinical coach.
 
Each day begins with a structured ward round to review cases and plan the day, ensuring consistent, high-quality care for every patient.
 
We ask for you to be a confident communicator, willing to collaborate within the team to help our patients and are passionate about veterinary care.   
 

Working Pattern

 
  • 4-day working week
  • Saturdays (8am-2pm) are equally shared 2 in 6. This equates to a 40-hour working week.
  • No OOH, bank holidays or Sundays.
  • Part time applicants considered and happy to discuss individual needs

    You are a confident and motivated veterinary surgeon who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to delivering high-quality patient and client care. You’ll bring:

     
  • A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS
  • Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
  • A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development
  • Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
