
Robson & Prescott Vets are a long-established, multi-disciplinary small animal and mixed practice based in Morpeth, Northumberland, with a strong reputation for clinical excellence, collaboration, and supportive team culture.
The role offers exposure to a highly varied caseload across consultations, medical workups, and surgical procedures, with opportunities to develop areas of clinical interest within a supportive and progressive environment. Both branch and hospital-based work are available, allowing flexibility depending on experience and preference.
The full-time hours for this role would include 40 hours per week, with the choice of working across 4 or 5 days per week. However, we place a strong focus on flexibility and are happy to speak with candidates looking for part-time or flexible working options. There would also be some out-of-hours commitments as part of our in-house service.
Practice highlights:
Purpose-built main hospital in Morpeth with 4 operating theatres and dedicated dental suite
On-site diagnostic laboratory, digital x-ray, ultrasound (including Doppler), and endoscopy
Separate species wards including dogs, cats, exotics, birds, and small mammals
Hydrotherapy and physiotherapy suite within the hospital site
8 branch practices across Northumberland supporting a wide regional caseload
Certificate holders across surgery, medicine, ECC, dermatology, cardiology, behaviour, and exotics
Strong internal referral culture with excellent mentorship and case support

As a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon, you will:
Deliver high-quality consultations, diagnostics, and surgical care across a varied caseload
Work collaboratively with a large multidisciplinary clinical team across hospital and branch settings
Contribute to inpatient management, case planning, and clinical decision-making
Support colleagues and share clinical knowledge within a culture of learning and development
Participate in a rota that may include some out-of-hours work depending on team structure

You are a confident and motivated veterinary surgeon who enjoys working in a collaborative and progressive clinical environment. You will bring:
A degree in Veterinary Medicine and registration (or eligibility) with the RCVS
Experience in small animal primary care practice (newer graduates considered with strong support needs)
Strong communication skills and a team-focused approach
Confidence in routine consultations and basic surgical procedures
A proactive attitude towards learning and clinical development
A commitment to delivering excellent patient and client care
