Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal
Mainstone Veterinary Clinic | Romsey, Hampshire
Salary up to £65,000 DOE, welcome bonus up to £5,000 and relocation allowance up to £5,000

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

Mainstone Practice is a long-established veterinary surgery in Romsey with a strong community reputation and a genuinely supportive team culture. We’re looking for a confident Veterinary Surgeon to join us, working with a varied small animal caseload including cats, dogs, small furries and occasional wildlife cases.

Your week will include a well-balanced mix of consultations and surgery, with a caseload that is both varied and rewarding. While much of our work involves routine procedures, we also see orthopaedic cases and occasional emergency presentations, ensuring plenty of clinical variety. There are elements of sole charge within the role, so we’re looking for a vet who feels confident making independent clinical decisions when needed. We’ve invested significantly in our facilities to support the delivery of high-quality patient care. Our practice is fully equipped with multiparameter monitoring in both theatre and dental, Doppler blood pressure monitoring, syringe drivers, multiple infusion pumps, comprehensive in-house IDEXX laboratory equipment, a floating X-ray table, and a dedicated dental suite with dental radiography.

We’re also proud to hold Silver Cat Friendly status, with dedicated cat-only clinic times designed to create a calm and stress-free environment for our feline patients.

Join a collaborative team of experienced vets and RVNs, with certificate holders in ophthalmology and ECC, and excellent support for further development and certificates.

Practice Highlights

  • Varied first-opinion caseload with a great mix of consultations and surgery
  • Opportunity to see orthopaedic and emergency cases alongside routine work
  • Modern, well-equipped practice with advanced diagnostic facilities
  • Dedicated dental suite with dental radiography
  • Silver Cat Friendly accredited practice with dedicated feline clinics
Certificate holders in Ophthalmology and ECC, with excellent support for further development and certificates
Excellent CPD and certificate support to help you develop your interests and career progression
  • How You’ll Make a Difference

You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.
