Apply

Salary up to £41,000 DOE

The team at Haydon is looking for a part-time Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly, welcoming and genuinely supportive practice in Bridport. This is an opportunity to become part of a welcoming team where collaboration, kindness and enjoyment of the job are just as important as clinical standards.

A Varied Caseload With Room to Grow

Our patients include cats, dogs, rabbits, small furries and the occasional chicken, offering plenty of variety throughout the day. The role provides a well-balanced mix of medicine and surgery in a progressive environment, with encouragement to pursue areas of clinical interest wherever possible. Our nursing team is incredibly supportive and hands-on, assisting in all areas of the practice to ensure you can focus on delivering great care. We also operate our own ambulance, enabling house visits, alongside a nurse-led community visiting service that allows us to actively support the local community.

Surgery That Keeps Things Interesting

Surgical work is varied, ranging from routine procedures through to more advanced cases such as splenectomies, TPLOs and orthopaedics when required. With access to an on-site laboratory, digital X-ray, ultrasound and a state-of-the-art operating theatre including laparoscopy, we’re able to offer the majority of diagnostics and surgical procedures in-house, giving you continuity and clinical satisfaction.

A Practice Designed for Teamwork

We are a purpose-built, single-site practice located on an industrial estate close to the main town. Inside, you’ll find a large and spacious reception area, three consulting rooms, prep and theatre, a dedicated X-ray and ultrasound room, and separate cat and dog wards. There’s also a comfortable staff room, office space for quiet admin time and excellent on-site parking, creating a calm and practical working environment for both team and clients.

Flexible Hours With Real Balance

The ideal rota would be two full days per week, preferably on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday, along with a Saturday morning on a 1 in 4 rota, working just three hours. There are no out-of-hours or on-call commitments, and there may be opportunities to pick up additional hours if that’s of interest.

A Team You’ll Feel Proud to Join

You’ll be working alongside three vets, five RVNs, one SVN and a dedicated client care team. Within the practice, we have certificate holders in surgery, medicine and cardiology, and we’re very open to supporting vets who wish to pursue a certificate of their own. The culture here is one of encouragement, shared learning and genuine support.

Life in and Around Bridport

Bridport offers a wonderful lifestyle, combining a vibrant market town atmosphere with stunning countryside and coastline. With the Jurassic Coast, beautiful beaches, coastal walks and rolling Dorset hills right on your doorstep, it’s perfect for anyone who loves the outdoors. Independent shops, cafés and a strong sense of community make Bridport a fantastic place to work and unwind.
