Veterinary Practitioner – Small Animal
Value Vets, Co Cork
Permanent | Full-time or Part-time | Salary up to €65,000 DOE
Shape Your Next Chapter in Small Animal Practice
If you’re a small animal vet in Cork looking for a role where your experience is genuinely valued and your voice carries weight, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. Value Vets is seeking a confident, capable Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly, close-knit team in a permanent role that offers autonomy, stability and real job satisfaction.
This is a position for a vet who enjoys being trusted to do what they do best: delivering high-quality care, building strong client relationships, and being a key clinical presence in a busy, well-run practice. Whether you’re looking for full-time hours or something more flexible, we’re open to the conversation.
A Practice with Purpose
Value Vets is a well-established small animal clinic with a strong local reputation for compassionate, high-standard veterinary care that remains accessible and affordable. We believe great medicine should never come at the expense of kindness or common sense.
You’ll be working in a modern, well-equipped practice with digital X-ray, ultrasound, kennelling facilities and up-to-date diagnostic tools to support both medical and surgical cases. The team is small but mighty with one other experienced vet, a veterinary nurse and a dedicated receptionist, creating a supportive, collaborative environment where communication is easy and teamwork really matters.
Your Day-to-Day
In this role, you’ll enjoy a varied caseload and the opportunity to work cases properly. Your days will involve a mix of consultations, routine surgery, diagnostics (including dentistry, imaging and blood work), and ongoing case management. You’ll also play a key role in advising and supporting pet owners, helping them make informed decisions about their animals’ health.
As part of a small team, you’ll have input into how the branch runs day to day – maintaining clinical standards, ensuring smooth operations, and working closely with nursing and support staff to deliver the best possible care.
Work That Fits Around Your Life
The rota is designed with balance in mind: Monday to Friday, 9am–6pm, with 1 in 4 Saturdays and 1 in 8 Sundays. There’s no out-of-hours work, and only two bank holidays per year. Part-time and flexible working arrangements are very much welcomed, making this role suitable for vets at different stages of life and career.
Who Will Thrive Here
This role is ideal for a VCI-registered Veterinary Surgeon with solid experience in first-opinion small animal practice. As there are elements of sole charge within a two-vet setup, you’ll need to be confident in routine consultations and surgery. This position is best suited to an established GP vet rather than a new graduate, but if you enjoy autonomy, responsibility and being a trusted clinician, you’ll feel right at home.
A Benefits Package That Truly Supports You
Alongside a competitive salary, you’ll receive a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your wellbeing and long-term career. This includes:
Work Life Balance & Employee Wellbeing
22 days annual leave Birthday leave Paid maternity, paternity, and adoptive leave packages Cycle to Work Scheme Company Sick Pay & Bereavement Leave Access to EAP & Wellbeing Centre Structured rota tailored to your life
