If you’re an experienced Small Animal or Mixed Veterinary Surgeon looking for a role where you can genuinely enjoy both your work and your surroundings, Wicklow Veterinary Clinic could be the perfect fit.
We are a friendly, progressive practice based in the heart of Wicklow Town, offering a flexible opportunity for a vet with a few years’ experience who enjoys first opinion practice and wants to be part of a supportive, down-to-earth team. This role can be tailored towards either mixed or small animal work depending on your interests and experience. Whether you love the variety of mixed practice or prefer to focus on companion animal medicine and surgery, we are open to shaping the caseload around the right person.
Our purpose-built clinic is bright, spacious and fully equipped with all the facilities needed to deliver a high standard of care across both small and large animal work. You’ll be joining a close-knit team made up of four vets, two veterinary nurses, two receptionists and a dedicated practice manager. We work collaboratively, support each other properly, and place a real emphasis on maintaining a positive working environment where people enjoy coming to work. This is a practice where teamwork matters, where opinions are valued, and where you’ll have the freedom to work cases up properly while still having support around you when needed.
For mixed vets, the role offers a rewarding balance of farm and companion animal work with a loyal local client base and good continuity of care. A full clean driving licence is essential due to the farm element of the caseload.
For small animal vets, there is plenty of scope to focus on consultations, medicine and surgery within a busy GP setting, while still benefiting from the support and collaboration of an experienced team.
We are looking for someone who is confident, approachable and enjoys building relationships with both clients and colleagues. Clinical standards are important to us, but so is personality and fit within the team.
The role is based around an average 40-hour week, with standard working hours of 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday and Saturdays from 9am to 1pm. Our out-of-hours rota is shared fairly, with one night on call per week and one weekend in four. Time off in lieu is provided following weekend cover, and bank holiday commitments are shared equally across the team, usually amounting to just one or two per year. We know veterinary work can be demanding, so creating a sustainable and supportive rota is genuinely important to us. Part-time applications are also very welcome, and we’re happy to discuss flexible working options for the right person.
