Market Vets are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join their welcoming team in beautiful North Devon. This is a varied two-site role, primarily based in Barnstaple with occasional support at the South Molton branch.

You’ll enjoy a great mix of consults and surgery, from routine procedures through to ECC cases, with plenty of opportunity to develop your own clinical interests. As a practice caring for small animals, farm patients and even local zoos, there’s excellent scope to broaden your experience.

The practice is well equipped with digital X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, dental radiography, therapeutic K-laser and a full in-house lab. You’ll be joining a collaborative team of experienced vets and RVNs, with strong support for further development, certificates and career progression.

How You’ll Make a Difference 

As a Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload. 
 
You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you. 
•    This is a full-time role of 40 hours across four days, Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm. Weekends and out-of-hours are part of the rota, with on-call covered from home and time off in lieu provided for both on-call and weekends worked. The rota runs on a six-week cycle, offering structure and predictability. 
•    This is a fixed-term contract for up to 12 months.

You are a confident and motivated veterinary surgeon who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to delivering high-quality patient and client care. You’ll bring: 
 
•    A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS 
•    Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases 
•    Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues 
•    A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development 
•    Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
