We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our thriving, well-established 24/7 veterinary hospital in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for a clinician with a strong surgical interest, holding a certificate in surgery, to work within a busy and progressive hospital environment to lead our first opinion surgical service.


Our hospital offers a diverse and challenging surgical caseload, supported by state-of-the-art facilities and a highly experienced clinical team. We are proud to provide both first-opinion and referral services, with a dedicated referrals department and a network of branch practices that regularly refer surgical cases into the hospital. This role would be ideal for a Vet with a Surgical Certificate.

We're fully equipped with:


CT scanner 
Laparoscopy
Ultrasound, digital x-ray, dental x-ray and flexible and rigid endoscopy
Modern operating theatres 
Comprehensive in-house laboratory facilities 
Dedicated referrals department 
Experienced and supportive nursing team 
Dedicated in house out-of-hours team run by advanced practitioners in emergency and critical care, allowing continuity of patient care and support 

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

Practice Highlights:

Busy and varied surgical caseload with opportunities to develop advanced surgical skills 

Strong case stream from multiple branch practices 

Collaborative environment with experienced veterinary colleagues including those with certificates in internal medicine and cardiology

Opportunities for professional development and further certification 

This position would suit an ambitious surgeon looking to work in a hospital setting with access to advanced equipment, referral support, and a consistent flow of interesting cases. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality surgical care while contributing to the continued growth and success of our hospital.

Working Pattern

40 hours per week

4-day working week

1 in 9 weekends

Flexibility available for the right candidate

 

You Might Be a Great Fit If...

You are a confident and motivated veterinary surgeon who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to delivering high-quality patient and client care. You’ll bring:

A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS

Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases

Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues

A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development

Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
