How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

We can tailor the opportunity to suit your preferences, whether you want a surgical caseload or consults only we can explore both options. Professional and personal development is at the core of our practice. That’s why we offer you the support you need to succeed. We share knowledge, build your confidence and encourage clinical freedom. Essentially, you tell us what you’re after and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Work life balance that actually works

Our people are at the heart of everything that we do. That’s why we know that work-life balance is vital in supporting our people to be their best selves. Whether you need reduced working days/hours for hobbies, need to do the school drop off/pick up or would simply like a more flexible rota pattern, we can fix or flex our patterns to suit you - you tell us what you need. Typically, full time hours will consist of working 4 days a week between 8:30 am and 6:30 pm. We switch the phones over to Vets Now so remote phone cover is required by the duty vet for just 1 hour, with a Registered Veterinary Nurse on site until 7pm. Weekends are 1:4 Saturdays, carrying out consults between 9am – 1pm when Vets Now take over.

About us

Our highly dedicated team consists of 9 experienced veterinary surgeons and 1 2nd year graduate, who are supported by an excellent team of RVNs, SVNs and wider support team. Our talented Vet team include an RCVS recognised Advanced Practitioner in general small animal surgery. We have other certificate holders in small animal medicine and endoscopy, a vet who practices acupuncture along with their own keen interest in animal behavior, and another vet with a PHD in nematodes. Our Head Nurse has a CertVN ECC alongside certificates in analgesia and anaesthesia. Regardless of where you are in your career, our dedicated and resourceful team will provide all the support and development you need and want.

As a Tier 2 RCVS accredited surgery we have a variety of advanced diagnostic facilities such as: digital radiography, ultrasonography and endoscopy. We offer a range of clinical services from preventative healthcare through to complex medical, surgical and orthopaedic procedures. Our onsite laboratory means most blood samples can be analysed the same day. We are located in Pershore, on the edge of the Cotswolds, with great attractions such as Pershore Abbey and Confetti Flower Field. Excellent transport links mean that we're only 40 minutes away from both Bristol & Birmingham, and an hour and a half away from London. We are ideally situation for those who prefer to spend time in the great outdoors and those who prefer the occasional hustle and bustle of the big cities.

Here's what the team have to say

“I’ve always had a keen interest in surgery so after qualifying as an RVN in 2019, I left Martin and Carr to work as a surgical nurse in a large referral clinic.  I soon realised that what I’d left behind was a progressive practice that's keen to teach and encourage.  I returned in 2020 where I went on to achieve a Certificate of Veterinary Nursing in Emergency & Critical Care (CertVNECC) and a certificate in analgesia and anaesthesia. All thanks to this Martin & Carr" – Amy, Head Nurse
