Are you a confident Veterinary Surgeon seeking your next opportunity? We could be the perfect practice for you!

Two Established Practices, One Great Team

Our Haughley practice was recently remodeled in October 2024, and we have exciting plans to upgrade Thurston soon. Haughley features three consulting rooms, separate cat and dog wards, a well-equipped prep and ops area, an in-house lab, and dedicated staff space. Thurston offers mixed kennels, a combined prep/theatre space, and three consulting rooms. While we work across both branches, your schedule will often depend on your location and skill set. As a small animal practice, we primarily see cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, and occasionally chickens. We are a Chicken Vet-approved practice and hold RWAF Silver status, so there’s also potential for exotic work if that’s your interest.

You’ll have the clinical freedom to manage your cases and plan your days. An average week includes at least one day of surgery, with consulting sessions in the mornings and afternoons. For more complex cases, we work with visiting specialists in orthopedics, soft tissue surgery, ultrasound, and ophthalmology. We aim to handle as many surgeries as possible in-house but are well supported by the IVC Evidensia network for referrals when needed. By the end of 2025, we’ll also be equipped to manage more advanced dentistry cases.  We have a range of equipment on site including DR Xray, Vetscan Imagyst, Endoscope, Ultrasound, In house blood machine.  Whether you’re seeking a consulting-only role or enjoy a mix of consults and surgeries, we can accommodate your preferences.

We’re committed to supporting further study, with full access to Central CPD membership. As an integral member of the newly formed Suffolk Veterinary Society, we also host monthly CPD events, fostering collaboration and growth within the local veterinary community. If you’re looking to develop as a strong GP vet, pursue a Certificate, or hone specific skills, we’re here to support your journey.

Our team of nurses run their own consults including 2nd Vac, 6 month health checks, Post op checks, Socialisation/ Happy visits, Wellness Screens

We’re also proud to give back by working regularly with Cats Protection and occasionally with Guide Dogs.

Our team at Haughley & Thurston

We currently have  a good mixture of experienced and younger Vets in practice, we have 3 certificate holders in practice including our Clinical Director, we have a new graduate vet with great ideas, we have  supportive Registered Veterinary Nurses and 1 Student Veterinary Nurses all with a wealth of experience. Our support staff is made up of 5 very experienced members of staff who ensure a smooth running of the day.

Rota Patterns that work for you
