
We’re seeking a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join Eden Veterinary Centre on a part-time, fixed-term contract (13-month maternity cover). With a strong focus on flexibility, wellbeing, and clinical quality, this role is ideal for someone balancing other commitments, offering a flexible working pattern and no out-of-hours requirements within a supportive, collaborative team.

Brand-new, purpose-built practice
2 fully equipped theatres
Dedicated dental suite with dental X-ray
Imaging suite (digital radiography and ultrasound)
Full in-house laboratory
Team of 6 Vets (including Clinical Lead), 6 RVNs, 1 VCA, Practice Director and experienced reception team
Nurse training practice with a focus on development at all levels
Surgical certificate holder in practice
Ambition to expand into soft tissue and orthopaedic referrals
Support and investment available for future certificate holders

As a Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.
You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.
Part-time role working 15–20 hours per week with a flexible working pattern
1 evening surgery per week
1 in 4 Saturday mornings
No OOH commitment
Deliver high-quality first-opinion care across consults and surgery
Work closely with a strong nursing team and support colleagues through case discussions and collaboration
Contribute to a positive team culture and continuous clinical improvement

You are a confident and motivated veterinary surgeon who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to delivering high-quality patient and client care. You’ll bring:
A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS
Around 3+ years’ experience in small animal practice
Confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development
Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
