Find a place to excel
Highcliff is a long-established practice, proudly serving our local community for over 100 years. We’re deeply connected to local life supporting the Greyhound Trust and local cat rescue charities, taking part in Hadleigh and Brantham country shows, and engaging with local schools through our STEM ambassador, who regularly visits school fairs to inspire future generations of veterinary professionals.
We recently worked with the BVA on a campaign to highlight the many positive aspects of the veterinary profession, something we’re extremely proud of.
Life in Hadleigh
Hadleigh is a charming market town in Suffolk, known for its historic character, welcoming community, and beautiful countryside surroundings. The high street is lined with a variety of shops, cafés, and traditional pubs, while nearby walking routes along the River Brett and Dedham Vale offer a peaceful escape from busy life.
With excellent schools, a vibrant local culture, and easy access to Ipswich, Colchester, and the Suffolk Coast, Hadleigh offers an ideal balance between rural charm and modern convenience, a truly wonderful place to live and work.
A Practice with Character and Charm
Highcliff Vets is a two-site practice with locations in Hadleigh and Brantham, where you’ll enjoy a balance of time spent at each site. Our beautiful Hadleigh practice sits proudly on the high street in a converted Tudor building with a modern, purpose-built extension.
Inside, you’ll find a warm and welcoming reception area with separate cat and dog waiting zones, four consulting rooms (one dedicated to nurse consultations), a prep area, two theatres, a dispensary behind reception, and an imaging and dentistry suite equipped with dental X-ray.
We also have separate cat and dog wards, a dedicated isolation building, and a comfortable staff room stocked with tea, coffee, fruit, and plenty of snacks to keep you going. There’s also quiet office space available for vets to complete admin or simply take a moment to recharge.
A Varied Caseload with Plenty of Opportunity
Our patients include cats, dogs, rabbits, small furries, and the occasional exotic or chicken. We aim to provide a balanced mix of consultations and surgery, and we’re happy to support specific clinical interests or consider a consult-only role if preferred.
Our surgical caseload is wonderfully varied, ranging from routine procedures such as spays and lump removals to more complex dentals, orthopaedics, and ECC work.
You’ll have access to a full suite of equipment, including orthopaedic and ophthalmology tools, digital and dental X-ray, ultrasound, video endoscopes, tonometers, and a class 4 therapeutic laser, everything you need to deliver outstanding care.
A Supportive, Skilled, and Caring Team
Our team is made up of 12 Vets, 16 RVNs, a Practice Manager, and 16 Client Care Team members. We’re proud to have certificate holders in Imaging, Surgery with two more vets currently working towards certificates in Small Animal Advanced Medicine.
Our team includes both newly qualified vets and long-standing colleagues with over 20 years of experience, creating a perfect balance of mentorship and collaboration.
Our dedicated nursing team plays a key role in all aspects of the practice, from running nurse consultations to supporting surgery and inpatient care. We also hold regular clinical meetings to share ideas, discuss cases, and support continuous improvement. Wellbeing is a top priority, our wellness group meets regularly to review initiatives, and we have trained Mental Health First Aiders on the team to ensure everyone feels supported.
Flexible Hours and a Healthy Work-Life Balance
This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, though we’re also open to part-time applications. The rota includes 1 in 3 Saturday mornings (8am–1pm) with no out-of-hours commitments, as we’re proud to be a Vets Now host practice.
